Method and installation for the preparation of cocoa-nibs and coffee-beans, comprising the combination of a hot air drying and a further treatment in a microwave area. The entire fruits are opened and the nibs or beans are separated from other constituants of the fruits before the nibs or the beans are fed to the heat treatment. Before they are opened, the fruits may be frozen.
