The invention concerns a selective hydrogenation catalyst, which catalyst comprises particles of a porous support consisting of at least one refractory inorganic oxide and, as active elements, palladium distributed at the periphery of the particles and at least one element selected between tin and lead. The invention also concerns a method for the selective hydrogenation of a mono-olefinic or di-olefinic hydrocarbon fraction using this catalyst.
