A liquid is fed from the steam generator and a washing liquor reservoir, comprising water, cleaning agent, rinsing agent, wetting agent, decalcifying agent and/or residues occurring in the cooking chamber when the product is cooked, are distributed within the same for cleaning the cooking chamber, and/or a washing liquor reservoir is at least partially filled with water by overfilling, preferably gradually, the steam generator, and circulating the washing liquor from the washing liquor reservoir, comprising water, cleaning agent, rinsing agent, wetting agent, decalcifying agent and/or residues occurring in the cooking chamber when the product is cooked, via the blower in a preferably controlled and/or regulated manner.
