The invention relates to a method for the introduction of an integrated predetermined rupture line in a planar expansive body. The method is particularly suitable for the introduction of an invisible predetermined rupture line with a reproducible defined tearing resistance by means of laser in an inhomogeneous material such as a fabric (1), which can serve as the decorative layer of an airbag cover. According to the invention, the control of the laser is achieved depending on the material amount along the desired predetermined rupture line.
