The present invention relates to a porous metal organic framework material formed of Mg2+ ions which is coordinatively bonded by 5-tert.-butylisophthalate ions, during formation of a framework structure. The invention also relates to methods for the production and application thereof, for example, for storage, separation, or the controlled release of a substance such as a gas or gas mixture.
