A method of recharging the reaction tubes of a tube-bundle reactor with a new catalyst fixed bed in which a heterogeneously catalysed partial gas phase oxidation of an organic compound has been carried out in advance in a precursor catalyst fixed bed having Mo-containing multielement oxidative compositions and with formation of a steam-containing product gas mixture, in which, before the recharging, molybdenum oxide and/or molybdenum oxide hydrate-containing solid coating deposited on the tube interior walls is brushed off using a brush.
