PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycyclic xanthine phosphodiesterase (PDE) V inhibitor having advantageous therapeutic characteristics. SOLUTION: The xanthine phosphodiesterase V inhibitor has formula (I) (wherein, R 4 is a 3-15C cycloalkyl group with or without one or more substituents, a 3-15C cycloalkenyl group with or without one or more substituents, or a heterocycloalkyl group of 3 to 15 members, with or without one or more substituents), and is useful for treating male (erectile) and female sexual dysfunction and other physiological disorders.
