Techniques to enable Wi-Fi Direct Services (WFDS) application service platform (ASP) capability negotiation are described. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise logic, at least a portion of which is in hardware, the logic to send a probe request message for a service seeker and receive a probe response message in response to the probe request message, the probe response message to identify an advertised service and comprise a WFDS ASP capability attribute, the logic to determine whether to use a WFDS ASP connection setup procedure to establish a connection with an advertiser of the advertised service, based on the WFDS ASP capability attribute.
