In some implementations, a method of wireless communication includes transmitting, by a user equipment (UE) while in a dual connectivity configuration, an overheat assistance indicator corresponding to an overheating condition at the UE. The method also includes, after sending the overheat assistance indicator and based on the overheating condition, performing, by the UE, an adjustment on a new radio (NR) configuration.
