In one exemplary aspect, a method for wireless communication includes selecting, by a mobile device, one or more cells in a wireless network for facilitating a positioning of the mobile device in the wireless network. The method also includes transmitting, from the mobile device to a network node, a message to request assistance data corresponding to the one or more selected cells.
