A computer-implemented method includes determining whether a display apparatus that displays video played back by a playback apparatus supports an optional feature for playback of the video by using a first technique and determining whether the display apparatus supports the optional feature for playback of the video by using a second technique that differs from the first technique in case that it is indeterminate whether the display apparatus supports the optional feature by using the first technique.
