Abstract:
A method performed by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include communicating on a primary carrier and a secondary carrier and receiving a medium access control (MAC) message indicating activation or deactivation of the secondary carrier. If the MAC layer message indicates the secondary carrier is activated, the method may include monitoring the secondary carrier for control messages. If the MAC message indicates the secondary carrier is deactivated, the method may include ceasing monitoring the secondary carrier. The method may include utilizing a timer based on the activation of the secondary carrier, and, if the timer expires, deactivating the secondary carrier.
