Box-making apparatus in which box blanks 4, 5 are advanced by upper and lower conveyer belts 6 from left to right, Fig. 2, so that their front edges engage a hook 3 on a lever 1 pivoting about a pin 2 on a fixed support 10, the front panels 5 of the blanks thus being folded-over on to the rear panels 4, has the hook biased by a tension spring 12 to engage and slide over the tops of the rear panels 4 when each folding operation has been completed, Fig. 5 (not shown), a retaining stop 14 then being engaged by the lever 1 to prevent its rebounding, with possible consequential malfunctioning of the apparatus. The retaining stop 14 may be a permanent or electromagnet, and is rotatably adjustable about a mounting pivot on the support 10. The upper limit of the travel of the hook 3 and the lever 1 during each folding operation is restricted by an adjustable stop 8. The lever 1 is resilient, so that when the hook 3 slides off the rear end of each blank 4, it falls into a stop 7 between the conveyer belts 6. The folding operation is completed by a stationary folding blade 15.
