    摘要： An apparatus and method for repeatedly presenting a single, flat, tubular corrugated case, with its leading closure flaps overfolded in open flap position for easy gripping, erection and placement in the case gripper of a case packer device includes the provision of a bottom feed magazine holding a stack of such flats and a plurality of lug chains for advancing each successive individual bottom-most flat through a gateway and along a path up to the operator station of the case packer. Upper folding hooks of exact dimension are arranged to over fold the leading upper, major and minor closure flaps of each successive flat, without contact with the corresponding lower flaps. The leading lower major and minor closure flaps are underfolded further along the path and hold down bars maintain the folds. Sensing means triggers the advance of another flat when the operator removes the flat presented at the operator station.

    摘要： Control apparatus controls the operation of a trailing edge folder in a carton blank folding machine. The folding machine has conveyor means for continuously advancing blanks in a predetermined direction in untimed relationship to one another along a generally horizontal path. The trailing edge folder has a rotatable shaft mounted below and transverse to the path. The shaft has mounted thereon for rotation therewith one or more arms which extend outwardly from the axis of the shaft. Folding heads extend from the distal ends of the arms. The control apparatus has a sensor which produces a trailing edge signal indicating the departure of the trailing edge of a blank from a first location along the path upstream of the folder. At the end of a determined interval after the trailing edge signal the shaft is rotated in the direction in which the carton is travelling so that a head on the shaft comes into contact with the trailing panel of the blank, and folds it over about 180.degree.. The shaft is stopped there until the carton panel slides out from under and out of the path of travel of the head. The shaft is then rotated further to a dwell position beneath the path and stopped at that point until the next blank is sensed. The control apparatus may be adjusted for different machine speeds, and differently sized cartons. Circuitry for monitoring operation, for making adjustments, and for detecting and diagnosing malfunctions is also provided.

    摘要： In an apparatus for erecting the bottom flaps of folding-box blanks fed to an erecting station by a conveyor and including a pivotable erecting lever with a blank-contacting surface which causes said blank flap to be deflected relative to the balance of said blank, said erecting lever thereafter being pivoted under the force of said blank, a bell crank lever is pivoted to said erecting lever, one arm of said bell crank lever serving as a latch and locking said bell crank lever and said erecting lever against pivoting, the other arm of said bell crank lever including an abutment engaged by the leading edge of said box blank and functioning as a latch release, whereby pivoting of said erecting lever is permitted only after said blank has advanced to the location where its leading edge engages said abutment.

Box-making apparatus in which box blanks 4, 5 are advanced by upper and lower conveyer belts 6 from left to right, Fig. 2, so that their front edges engage a hook 3 on a lever 1 pivoting about a pin 2 on a fixed support 10, the front panels 5 of the blanks thus being folded-over on to the rear panels 4, has the hook biased by a tension spring 12 to engage and slide over the tops of the rear panels 4 when each folding operation has been completed, Fig. 5 (not shown), a retaining stop 14 then being engaged by the lever 1 to prevent its rebounding, with possible consequential malfunctioning of the apparatus. The retaining stop 14 may be a permanent or electromagnet, and is rotatably adjustable about a mounting pivot on the support 10. The upper limit of the travel of the hook 3 and the lever 1 during each folding operation is restricted by an adjustable stop 8. The lever 1 is resilient, so that when the hook 3 slides off the rear end of each blank 4, it falls into a stop 7 between the conveyer belts 6. The folding operation is completed by a stationary folding blade 15.
