摘要： In an apparatus for the continuous, uniform coating with a liquid coating material of a web passing over a counter roll, comprising an air-nozzle arrangement for the removal of excess coating material and the smoothing of the coating, said air-nozzle arrangement being rotatable about its longitudinal center axis, being disposed adjacent to the counter roll and comprising two slot nozzles disposed symmetrically about its longitudinal center axis and displaced 180 degrees relative to each other, each nozzle extending at least over the width of the web, and the two lips of each nozzle being seated on nozzle-lip holders mounted on the casing of the air-nozzle arrangement, the improvement which comprises imparting to the nozzle-lip holders an angular construction and mounting them on the casing in such a way that they can be positioned and adjusted in the direction of the nozzle-slot width; one of the nozzle-lip holders being of smaller cross section over its angled area than the other nozzle-lip holder; the nozzle-lip holders of each slot nozzle being interconnected through adjustable means exerting a pulling and pushing action and which are distributed over the length of the slot nozzle.

摘要： In the affixing of strip label closures across the top and down the sides of a container wherein a strip label is coated with glue, held extended and at right angles to the axis of the container above its top whereby portions of the strip label overhang the top of the container, and the overhanging portions are pressed onto the opposed sides of the container, the improvement which comprises gripping the free ends of the strip label while the label is held extended over the top of the container, guiding the gripped ends over arcuate paths that are in the same plane as the axis of the container directly to the intended points of adhesion on the sides of the container, and thereafter effecting the pressing. A corresponding apparatus is described. Strip labels are thereby affixed more precisely and neatly.

摘要： In a labeling machine having a labeling station including a support means for revolving the support about its axis successively past a gluing roller, a label pickup station and a label gripping cylinder, at least one gluing segment on the support axis, the gluing segment having a cylindrically curved pickup surface with a radius smaller than the distance between the support axis and the gripping cylinder, the gripper cylinder and each gluing segment being coupled to one another through a nonuniformity gearing such that they have the same sense of rotation and each gluing segment performing a rotatory movement in the opposite direction which is accelerated or retarded such that its pickup surface rolls against the glue roller, the labels and the gripper cylinder, the labeling station being designed for optional operation with one or more gluing segments and the nonuniformity gearing being replaceable such that the transmission ratio of the gearing from the support to the gripper cylinder is reciprocal to the number of gluing segments with which the support is provided and the division of the gripper cylinder, the improvement wherein the nonuniformity gearing comprises a stationary sun gear and a lantern-pinion gearing, each lantern pinion being fixedly coupled with the drive shaft of each gluing segment and being provided with trundles, the sun gear having teeth with the flanks of different steepness according to the acceleration or retardation of each gluing segment, at least the section of the sun gear which acts in the area of the gripper cylinder being interchangeable.

摘要： In a labeling machine having a rotatable carrier and at least one pickup element rotatably mounted on the carrier, the drive for each pickup element comprising a four-way toggle mechanism including a crank, a connecting rod, a swinging link, with the connecting rod being joined to the crank and swinging link at two respective joints. Two cam followers are connected to the connecting rod by lever arms and are disposed outside the joints of the swinging link and the connecting rod on the one hand and the connecting rod and crank on the other hand. The four-way toggle mechanism and lever arms fixed to the connecting rod of the followers are adjusted to one another such that during a revolution of the carrier, the field swept by the swinging link does not encompass the axis of rotation of the carrier.

摘要： A chuck for use with spools comprises a shaft and at least one inner wedge-shaped member mounted to one end of the shaft for axial movement and biased away from the shaft. A gripper comprises at least two outer members slidably mounted on the inner members to effect movement radially outwardly to thereby grip the inside of the spool. A first stop is connected to the gripper and engageable with the outer edge of the spool to limit the movement thereof with respect to the outer members and movable with respect to the inner member and a second stop is connected to the shaft for engaging with the outer members to limit their axial movement against the force of the bias.
