A seal assembly for a hydraulically operated cylinder comprising a pair of sealing members acting between the cylinder end cap and the operating shaft to seal the hydraulic operating fluid from the ambient fluid. A pressurized fluid is disposed between the sealing members and acts on the shaft to control the pressure differentials across each of the sealing members.
