摘要： A source of radiation such as a laser directs a substantially monochromatic beam towards a reference surface. An optical grating located near the source, in conjunction with a photodetector, transforms the reflected radiation into an electrical signal. A standard frequency is generated internally of the device and is compared, by suitable circuitry, with the frequency obtained from the reflected radiation. Positive and negative values are obtained for the velocity components from the comparison of these two signals. Additionally, the existence of this internal standard permits the measurement of zero and nearzero velocity.

摘要： Sound generation apparatus to simulate the sounds made by a jet engine. By adding the outputs of two nominally identical oscillators constructed using non-precision components which cause them to have slightly different output frequencies a sound closely simulating whine is obtained. Amplitude of sound is controlled by the use of field effect transistor shunts which have applied to their gates signals representing the parameters which affect the level of sound heard by a listener.

摘要： Apparatus to improve resolution and decrease distortion in system wherein a video signal is obtained by scanning a transparancy in a manner which requires increased scan speeds as the scanning spot moves away from the center is shown. A radial distortion lens having high axial demagnification decreasing toward the edges is placed between the scanner and transparancy and means are provided to correct the scan so that the combined output of the scanner and lens is the same as the scanner alone, the combined system resulting in a smaller spot size on axis and a decrease in required scanning speed toward the edges.

摘要： In a system employing gyroscopes driven by AC motors at synchronous speeds the motors are controlled so that their rotors always occupy the same synchronous position with respect to the rotating magnetic fields in the motors. This control, which makes the drift of the gyroscope due to rotor unbalance constant, is achieved by generating a rotor marker pulse each time the rotor passes through a predetermined angular position and causing the rotor to be positioned so that this pulse occurs at a preselected point in the cycle of energization of the AC motor.

摘要： The disclosed embodiment of the present invention is a coupling for a lead screw and the like having four degrees of freedom and two degrees of constraint. The coupling is generally formed of three rectangular member, two of which have a central rectangular aperture for receiving another one of the members therein. The inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the members in assembled form are slightly spaced from one another to permit limited pivotal movement of the inner and intermediate members about their respective axes and to permit limited axial movement of the inner and intermediate members along their respective axes with respect to the outer member.

摘要： The disclosed embodiment of the present invention is a film transport which includes a pair of capstan rollers for translating the film, a pair of sprockets associated with the capstan rollers for edge guiding the film, and a curved platen for supporting the film at a flying spot scanner station. An encoder is connected to one sprocket for sensing longitudinal movement of the film and a finger engages and senses the position of an edge of the film. A signal corresponding to the position of the edge of the film is supplied to the deflection circuitry of the flying spot scanner to alter to raster position thereof accordingly.
