Abstract:
A METHOD FOR MONITORING THE HYDROGENATION-DEHYDROGENATION AND/OR ACIDIC ACTIVITIES OF A CATALYST COMPRISING PLATINUM AND ALUMINA IS DISCLOSED. THE CATALYST IS USED TO PROMOTE THE CONVERSION, E.G., REFORMING, OF HYDROCARBON FEEDSTOCK INTO HYDROCARBON EFFUENT. THE EFFUENT CAN THEN BE ANALYZED FOR TOLUENE AND METHYLCYCLOHEXANE (MCH), AND N-HEXANE, 2,2-DIMETHYLBUTANE, N-HEPTANE AND 3,3-DIMETHYLPENTANE. SELECTED RATIOS OF THESE SIX COMPONENTS CHARACTERIZED THE STATE OF THE ACTIVITY OF THE CATALYST.
