The motor through a transmission gear-wheel with high gear-change rate and a transmission gear-wheel with a low gear-change rate transmits the motion of the carriage. One-way clutches are also used to select the transmission system and to control the direction of the carriage. Thus, the scanner has high image quality and short carriage backward time.
