A chromaticity point of the emission light from the light source section is set to a position deviated from a white chromaticity point. In the case where the input picture signals are picture signals indicating white (W), the output signal generation section performs a chromaticity point adjustment to adjust, to the white chromaticity point, a chromaticity point of display light emitted from the liquid crystal display panel based on the emission light.
