A method for dispensing a beverage from a collapsible container (2), in which a collapsible container (2) provided with a base unit (3) is mounted on a substantially flat base part (5) of a dispensing assembly (1) with the outlet (9) of the container facing downwards. A free end of a dispensing tube (10) is arranged at a closed dispensing tap (4) located outside the dispensing assembly (1), and a hollow piercer (11) connected to the dispensing tube is aligned with the outlet (9) of the collapsible container (2). A cover (6) is mounted on the base part (5) in a hermetically sealed manner to form a pressure chamber (8) between the collapsible container (2), the base unit (3), the base part and the cover. An increased pressure is provided in the pressure chamber (8), and the beverage is dispensed after the piercer has pierced the outlet of the container by opening the dispensing tap (4). A beverage dispensing assembly (1) and a container unit with a downwardly facing outlet adapted to such a dispensing assembly is also described.
