In a method for measuring and testing the performance of storage batteries by determining data and/or profiles characteristic of storage batteries, in a first measurement phase, a plurality of storage batteries (A1-A8) is connected in series to a power supply device (1) and to a load (2) and is charged and discharged at least once, first measured values are acquired from which data or profiles characteristic of the series-connected storage batteries (A1-A8) are established, the series connection is interrupted, and each individual storage battery (A1-A8) is successively connected to the power supply device (1) and to the load (2). In a second measurement phase, each storage battery (A1-A8) is fully charged and discharged at least once, and second measured values are acquired from which individual characteristic data or profiles are established for each storage battery (A1-A8).
