    摘要: A process for the preparation of polybrominated TMPI compounds, comprising reacting TMPI in the presence of a catalyst, in a solvent selected from the group consisting essentially of liquid bromine, dihaloalkane, such as dichloroethane, or a mixture of two or more dihaloalkanes. The mixture of dihaloalkanes may comprise one or more of dichloromethane, chlorobromomethane and dibromomethane. The temperature during the addition of TMPI may vary between about 0°C and 40°C. When the catalyst is selected to be AlCl 3 , the temperature during the addition of TMPI may vary between about 0°C and 5°C.

    摘要: Tribromostyrene (TBS) is produced by the preparation of a TBS precursor, which is β-bromoethyl-tribromobenzene (β-BrBr₃), and the successive elimination of hydrogen bromide from said precursor. The precursor is prepared by selective bromination of phenethyl bromide (β-Br), wherein the molar ratio of bromine to phenethyl bromide is comprised between 2.5 and 3.5, and preferably between 3.1 and 3.3 included; and by adding bromine, after an initial addition, at a controlled molar rate.
