Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a 3-mercaptoaniline compound represented by general formula (2), which is characterized in that a nitro group and a chlorosulfonyl group of a 3-nitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride compound represented by general formula (1) are reduced in the presence of an acid catalyst. Also specifically disclosed is a method for producing a compound which can be a raw material to be used in the method for producing a 3-mercaptoaniline compound.
