A semiconductive resin composition comprises (A) an oxyalkylene polymer having one or more hydrosilylizable alkenyl groups in each molecule, (B) a compound having two or more hydrosilyl groups in each molecule, (C) a hydrosilylizing catalyst, and (D) an ionic conductivity imparting agent or (E) a nonionic surfactant. A semiconductive member having a resistance little varying because of environment and applied voltage and little varying after continuous use, and preferably used as an electrophotographic member, comprising a metallic support member, a semiconductive elastic layer formed on the outer peripheral surface of the metallic support member, and one or more surface layers formed on the semiconductive elastic layer. The semiconductive member has a specific resistance and a specific resistance ratio.

A compound containing a primary hydroxyl group and an unsaturated bond is caused to act on a halogen-terminated hydrocarbon polymer obtained by cationic polymerization to obtain a saturated hydrocarbon polymer having a hydroxyl group at each end. Compounds obtained by quantitatively incorporating hydroxyl groups at the ends of saturated hydrocarbon polymers obtained by cationic living polymerization are useful as materials for highly weatherable urethanes. In a conventional method known as a technique for obtaining such hydroxyl-terminated compounds, the polymer ends after completion of polymerization are converted to olefinic ends and then subjected to hydroboration. However, this method needs a multistage reaction and requires much labor. It has become possible to obtain a hydroxyl-terminated saturated hydrocarbon polymer directly, i.e., without via an intermediate therefor, by reacting a compound containing a primary hydroxyl group and an unsaturated bond with a halogen-terminated hydrocarbon polymer obtained by cationic polymerization.

A composition comprising: (A) a saturated hydrocarbon polymer which has, per molecule on the average, more than one alkenyl group capable of undergoing hydrosilylation and has a molecular weight of 2,000 to 50,000; (B) an ingredient comprising a compound having more than two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule on the average; (C) a compound having, per molecule, one alkenyl group capable of undergoing hydrosilylation; (D) a compound having, per molecule, at least two alkenyl groups capable of undergoing hydrosilylation and having a molecular weight lower than 2,000; and (E) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The composition gives a cured article having a high gel content, a low heat loss, and various excellent properties. Thus, limitations due to the SiH-containing compound as a hardener, which can be a cause of curing failure, can be considerably mitigated. As a result, a homogeneous cured article can be obtained from the composition regardless of whether the viscosity thereof is any value in a wide range.
