    摘要： A winding assembly especially suitable for use in conjunction with a system for automated imaging of lithographic plate material, including on-press imaging systems. A feeder spool (105) installed within a plate-support cylinder (12) contains a rolled supply of plate material, which wraps around the cylinder (12) and is received by an uptake spool (110), also located within the cylinder (12). The assembly is driven by the same power source used to rotate the plate-support cylinder (12), and maintains a strong tension along the wrapped material.

    摘要： A cleaning assembly (325) for use in conjunction with a spark-discharge recording apparatus. This system includes a writing head (42) for imaging a lithographic printing plate (13), coupled to means for removing debris generated by the imaging process. The debris-removal means can be based on a rotating brush (327) in contact with the surface of the plate (16), means for producing a vacuum and/or means (329, 332) for delivering cleaning fluid to the contact area between the brush and the plate.

Laser output either ablates one or more plate layers or physically transforms a surface layer, in either case resulting in an imagewise pattern of features on the plate. The image features exhibit an affinity for ink or an ink-abhesive fluid that differs from that of unexposed areas.
