摘要： A printer (11) or other sheet media handling equipment is provided with an output diverter (51) which is pivoted with respect to the printer (11) in order to discharge the sheet media (15) to selected ones of a plurality of output bins (19). The pivoting maintains a relative alignment between an output paper path of the printer (11) and the selected bin (19) by shifting the sheet media path at the diverter (51). In order to maintain registration of the diverter (51) with the printer's output (17), a funnel-shaped input consisting of a pair of panels extending across a width of the printer's output are used to guide the paper to the diverter (51). The funnel shape permits the diverter (51) to pivot and remain within registration of the printer's output (17).

摘要： A sheet sorter delivers sheets introduced seriatim from a host unit such as a copier onto a plurality of removable stationary sheet receiving trays (15) through its pivotable sheet guide and discharge mechanism having four pivotal axes (4A, 4B, 5A, 7A). The sheet guide and discharge mechanism is pivotably supported at its one end on two fixed pivotal axes (4A, 5A) so that the mechanism can be pivotally swung up and down about the two fixed pivotal axes (4A, 5A). At the other end of the sheet guide and discharge mechanism, which is unsupported, are disposed the other two pivotal axes (4B, 7A) and sheet discharge rollers (7). The swinging motion of the mechanism is achieved by a Geneva drive mechanism (10, 11) including a first driving motor (12) so that the level of the sheet discharge roller (7) is sequentially shifted to be aligned with each of the tray levels and the sheets are seriatim sorted onto the respective trays (15). The sorter has a second driving motor (23) for driving the sheet discharge rollers (7). The axis of the sheet discharge rollers (7) makes a circular-arc movement about one of the fixed axes (5A) and the front edges (the sheet entry side) of the trays are disposed along the locus of the circular-arc movement of the sheet discharge roller (7) so that the sheet discharge rollers (7) stay juxtaposed with the front edge of the corresponding tray (15) at each of the sheet discharge stages.

摘要： A photocopier collator (10) has a movable paper chute (14) disposed between the discharge slot of a photocopy machine and the entry point of a plurality of bins mounted adjacent thereto. The movable paper chute (14) directs them successively into different ones of the bins (15-19). The chute is successively diverted to each of the predetermined number of bins by means of a pulse from the photocopy machine. The pulse actuates a solenoid (41) which controls a cam latch (34) thereby releasing a follower (14A) which is attached to the movable paper chute (14). Actuation of the solenoid (31) successively lowers the paper chute (14) to divert successive sheets of photocopies to each of the predetermined number of bins (15-19). After the pulse from the photocopy machine has actuated the solenoid (31), the latch (34) is pulled away from the solenoid by means of a spring (38), a second solenoid (41) returns the movable paper chute to repeat the cycle.
