摘要： A method of processing a stream of liquid chlorine containing nitrogen trichloride from a chloralkali plant. The liquid stream is received into a vaporizer in which it is evaporated 1O1 chlorine gas and nitrogen trichloride gas. The gas stream is processed by destroying the nitrogen trichloride gas, for example in a superheater or a catalytic bed. The processed gas stream is recycled to the chlorine production train of the chloralkali plant. The process avoids the use of organic solvents to decompose the nitrogen trichloride and the creation of a waste stream requiring further handling.

摘要： The concentration of undesirable impurities dinitrogen difluoride and dinitrogen tetrafluoride in a nitrogen trifluoride mixture are reduced by heating the mixture in the gas phase in a vessel with an inner wall selected from electropolished metal, ceramic alumina or sapphire, and recovering a nitrogen trifluoride product having reduced concentration of such impurities. The process is carried out at a temperature of from about 150°C to about 300°C and the vessel is preferrably free of packing and has a minimized ratio of the vessel interior surface area to vessel volume in the region of the vessel where the heating step is carried out. The process optionally further includes the step of contacting the inner wall of the vessel with a passivating composition comprising fluorine gas.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for producing nitrogen trifluoride by gas-solid reaction. This method includes the steps of (a) providing a packed-bed-type vessel filled with a particulate solid of an ammonium complex of a metal fluoride; (b) introducing a fluorine-containing gas into the vessel to allow the fluorine-containing gas to flow upwardly through the vessel such that fluorine of the fluorine-containing gas is reacted with the particulate solid in the vessel, thereby to obtain a reaction gas containing nitrogen trifluoride; and (c) separating the nitrogen trifluoride from the reaction gas. A part of the reaction gas flowing out of the vessel may be introduced into the vessel, and thereby circulated through the vessel. The yield of nitrogen trifluoride becomes substantially improved by this method.
