The present invention is a method of descaling a steel material which removes scale formed at the time of hot rolling a steel material by spraying jets of high pressure water from a plurality of nozzles on to the surface of the steel material, the method of descaling a steel material comprising giving pulsation of a frequency of 3.0 kHz to 200 kHz by direct vibration by a vibrator or vibration due to resonance to the high pressure water and setting a distance from each nozzle to the steel slab at 50 to 700 mm in range. Due to this, there is provided a method of producing a hot rolled steel material of a sufficiently good quality removing scale from a difficult-to-descale steel slab such as high Si steel without requiring high pressure water of an extremely high discharge pressure and while easing temperature restrictions on the heating furnace.

A method of treating a rolled steel article, the method comprising: providing a first solution comprising an acid arranged to separate mill scale components from steel and a surfactant arranged to suspend separated mill scale components in the first solution; applying the first solution to a surface of the article for a prescribed duration; rinsing the first solution from the surface of the article by applying a rinse liquid to the article; directing a first flow of air onto the surface of the article to remove moisture from the surface of rolled steel article; and directing a second flow of air onto the surface of the article subsequent to application of the second solution until remaining moisture on the article is substantially removed.

It is an object to provide a facility and a method for manufacturing a steel plate having excellent shapes and excellent mechanical properties, by performing uniform cooling in a cooling step by uniformizing scales that are generated on surfaces of the steel plate in a descaling step. A facility for manufacturing a steel plate includes a hot rolling apparatus, a shape correcting apparatus, a descaling apparatus, and an accelerated cooling apparatus which are set in this order from an upstream side in a conveyance direction, wherein jetting nozzles of the descaling apparatus are set in two rows with respect to a longitudinal direction of a steel plate, and wherein energy density E of descaling water that is jetted towards a surface of the steel plate from the two rows of jetting nozzles is greater than or equal to 0.08 J/mm 2 in total.

The invention relates to a method for descaling a metallic surface (2, 3) of a semifinished metallic product (4, 9), in which the semifinished metallic product (4, 9) is moved in a transporting direction (13) past nozzle head parts (18) that are arranged next to one another transversely in relation to this transporting direction (13) and rotate, and in which nozzle elements (22, 23, 24, 25) arranged on these rotating nozzle head parts (18) are used to produce on the metallic surface (2, 3) directed high-pressure fluid jets, which before hitting the metallic surface (2, 3) may touch or overlap at a constriction (30) between two directly neighbouring nozzle head parts (18), wherein the nozzle head parts (18) rotate synchronously in relation to one another with an angular position (31, 32) that is preset in such a way that the fluid jets produced by means of the nozzle elements (22, 23, 24, 25) are always directed past one another onto the metallic surface (2, 3) without coming into contact with one another.
