A thermoplastic, moldable, non-exuding phase change material in the form of a composite useful for thermal energy storage. The composite is preferably a solidified melt mixture of a polyolefin resin, and ethylene copolymer, silica particles and an alkyl hydrocarbon phase change material. For a microwave heating capability, a microwave absorbing additive may be added as a fifth major ingredient. The composite can be formed into a variety of configurations such as pellets, sheets, rods, tubes, plugs for hollow core cement blocks, films, and fibers, all for thermal energy storage uses.

The present invention is directed to a monofilament made from a blend of a polyester having a polyhydric alcohol of 1,4-cyclohexane-dimethanol, and a polyamide. Additionally, the blend may include a polyolefin. This blend is useful as an article of paper making machine clothing used in forming, pressing, or drying sections of a paper making machine when the blend is in the form of a fiber structure. The blends usefulness stems from its dry-heat strength and hydrolysis resistance.

A high temperature copolyester monofilament exhibits enhanced knot tenacity and is formed from the extrusion of a polymer blend of a copolyester resin and a fluoropolymer resin. Additives such as thermal stabilizers may be added to the polymer blend. The polymer blend may be extruded in the presence of other additives such as a hydrolytic stabilizer. The monofilament exhibits a higher average knot tenacity, a higher minimum knot tenacity, a narrower knot tenacity range and lower standard deviation as compared to standard high temperature copolyester monofilaments. A dryer fabric comprises a plurality of woven copolyester monofilaments having enhanced knot tenacity, the monofilaments comprising a polymer blend of copolyester resin and fluoropolymer resin, and may further include thermal stabilizers and hydrolytic stabilizers.

A polyester fiber mainly comprising repeating units of ethylene terephthalate and a method of producing the same, wherein a compound represented by general formula (1), (2) or (3) is added as a melt viscosity depressant. It now becomes possible to lower the melt viscosity without lowering the limiting viscosity and to facilitate the spinning of a polyester with a high melt viscosity, thus giving a high-strength fiber.

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a thermosetting elongated object by at least partly polymerizing a mixture of precursors for thermosetting resins and subsequently spinning and finally crosslinking the mixture, in which process successively: i) a mixture is composed that consists of 1) a first monomer possessing a number of functional groups of which one part falls in a first category and another part falls in a second category, a functional group of the first category not reacting with a functional group of the second category, and the monomer being essentially di-functional as regards the first category, 2) a second monomer possessing essentially two functional groups that fall in the first category, 3) a third monomer possessing one or more functional groups with a divalent functionality that fall in the second category; ii) the first monomer is reacted with the second monomer, yielding a virtually linear polymer; iii) the mixture is spun into an elongated object; iv) the virtually linear polymer is reacted with the third monomer.
