The photosensitive layer (3) may be a monolayer or function-separated laminate type one which comprise a charge generating layer (3a) and a charge transporting layer (3b) laminated one on another. The charge generating layer (3a) contains a specified benzidine compound represented by general formula (I) below as the charge transporting substance.

An electrophotographic recording material comprising on an electrically conductive support a negatively chargeable photoconductive recording layer which contains in an electrically insulating organic polymeric binder material at least one photoconductive n-type pigment substance and at least one p-type photoconductive charge transport substance as defined herein by a general formula (I) to (V), wherein said layer has a thickness in the range of 4 to 40 µm and comprises 8 to 80 % by weight of said n-type pigment substance and 0.01 to 40 % by weight of said p-type charge transport substance that is molecularly distributed in said electrically insulating organic polymeric binder material that has a volume resistivity of at least 10¹⁴ Ohm-m, and wherein said recording layer in electrostatically charged state requires for 10 % and 90 % discharge respectively exposures to conductivity increasing electromagnetic radiation that differ by a factor 4.5 or less.

Es wird ein neues panchromatisches elektrophotographisches Aufzeichnungselement beschrieben, welches einen elektrisch leitenden Träger und mindestens eine photoleitende Schicht aufweist. Hierbei enthält die photoleitende Schicht mindestens ein Bindemittel, mehrere Ladungsträger erzeugende Verbindungen oder Sensibilisatoren, mindestens eine Ladungsträger transportierende Verbindung (Photoleiter) sowie ggf. Zusatzstoffe. Die Sensibilisatoren selbst sind Viktoriablau FB (C.I. 44045), Kristallviolett FN (C.I. 42555), Rhodamin FB (C.I. 45170), Astrazonorange R (C.I. 48040) und/oder Astrazonorange G (C.I. 48035), welche gemeinsam mit Naphtholactamfarbstoffen und/oder mit Isoindoleninfarbstoffen verwendet werden. Hierbei weisen die Naphtholactamfarbstoffe im Molekül mindestens ein Chromophor der allgemeinen Grundstruktur auf, und die Isoindoleninfarbstoffe weisen im Molekül mindestens ein Chromophor der allgemeinen Grundstruktur auf.

There are here provided a novel tetraphenylthiophene derivative represented by the general formula wherein each of R 1 and R 2 is an alkyl group, an aralkyl group or an aryl group which may be substituted, and R, and R 2 may be linked with each other to form a ring together with a nitrogen atom; and each of ℓ, m and n is an integer of 0 or 1 and is selected to meet the condition formula ℓ≧m≧n; and an electrophotographic photoreceptor which is composed of an electrically conductive base and a photosensitive layer thereon containing the aforesaid tetraphenylthiophene derivative as a charge-transporting material, and a charge-generating material, preferably a specific azo compound.
