    摘要: Systems and methods for dynamically optimizing the fidelity of a speech signal received from a wireless telephony device and transmitted through a packet-switched network. In an exemplary embodiment, at least one Quality of Speech (QoS) transmission characteristic is determined for a packet-switched network intermediate to the a first Media Gateway (MGW) and a second MGW; the fidelity of speech transmitted through the packet-switched network being a function of the QoS transmission characteristic. A speech codec is dynamically-selected as a function of the QoS transmission characteristic of the packet-switched network. The speech signal is encoded into speech data using the dynamically-selected speech codec, and transmitted through the packet-switched network from the first MGW to the second MGW. The second MGW decodes the speech data using the dynamically-selected speech codec.

    摘要: The invention relates to two methods for selecting the QoS level during a connection between a first media gateway (1) which is associated with a first subscriber (2) and a first network operator (13), and a second media gateway (3) which is associated with a second subscriber (4) and possibly a second network operator (14), either in a packet network by means of an exchange by a CODEC or in a network by means of an exchange by a transmission technique. In said methods, the first subscriber (2) and/or the first network operator (13) signals to a first media gateway controller (5) that they would like another QoS. During the first method, a CODEC used in the connection is modified by means of media gateways (1, 3) and media gateway controllers (5, 6). During the second method, an IP connection (12) is deviated towards a TDM connection (7), or vice versa, by means of additional TDM endpoints (8, 9, 10, 11) and the aforementioned components. It is thus possible to adapt the QoS level to the level currently required.

The transmission quality will not only be analyzed when a telecommunications is set up but also during its running.
