An apparatus for conveying and aligning various types of film package (3) recovered for recycling. A conveyer of the apparatus is constructed by a pair of parallel belts (4,5) combined to form a V-shaped bearing gutter and driven in the same conveying direction. The film packages (3) are conveyed on the conveyer and are slid downward through an inclined cylindrical tube (10) which rotates about the longitudinal axis and has spiral ridges (16) on the inner periphery. Thereby, the longitudinal direction of the film packages (3) is aligned with the conveying direction. Then, the posture discriminator (26) discriminates between the upright posture and the upside-down posture of the film packages (3) on a first conveying path (25), with reference to the position of the viewfinder. The film packages (3) having the upright posture are let fall headlong from the first conveying path (25) onto a second conveying path (27), so as to have the upside-down posture on the first conveying path (25). The film packages (3) conveyed on the first (25) and second (27) conveying paths are again joined together in a line.

An abutment area is formed in which two belts 5, 6 are in contact with and confront each other. Link chains 23 carrying carrier rollers 24 are arranged in such a manner that carrier rollers 24 are disposed alternately on the back face of belt 5 and the back face of belt 6, in zigzags. The upper end is connected to winch 25, while the lower end is connected to weight 29. Link chains 23 are wound by winch 25, and link chains 23 are connected to the upper frame 17. When link chains 23 are stretched by weight 29, a force is given to respective belts 5, 6 through carrier rollers 24. Link chains 23 are released from upper frame 17, then link chains 23 are lowered and folded so that carrier rollers are positioned to be convenient for maintenance. Corridor for maintenance is unnecessary, and so cost is reduced.

The dragging elements (26) are trained around respective idler pulleys (27, 28, 31) operable in rotation for causing the displacement of the belts (2) and the selective transferring of the same to second dragging elements (42) that will convey them to different work stations (5, 5a) according to a predetermined sequence.
