    摘要: A method of selectively accessing a desired recording layer on a multi-layered optical disk is described. The multi-layered optical disk comprises a first recording layer (3) superposed on a first base plate (2), a second recording layer (4) superposed on a second base plate (2), and a spacer (5) of adhesive disposed between the first recording layer (3) and the second recording layer (4). Each recording layer (3,4) has an identification section (ID a , ID b ). Information is recorded on and/or reproduced from the recording layers (3,4) by a focused light beam. The method comprises changing the focus of the light beam and detecting zero cross points of respective focusing error signal S curves, each S curve corresponding to a respective recording layer, until the same number of zero cross points as an ordinal number of the desired recording layer is detected. The correct selection of the recording layer (3,4) is confirmed by reading an identification section (ID a , ID b ) thereof which stores its recording layer address.

    摘要: The car navigation file of the optical disk stores data which is used for navigating the car, and the video title set stores a plurality of video titles concerning facilities located in districts included in the map data. A VOB comprising one scene of a video image of a video title is a filmed shot in high picture quality. The VOB includes a writing command that position information of a position associated with the video information be written in the rewitable area when the predetermined operation is performed during the reproduction of the optical disk. When the disk reproduction apparatus executes the writing command, the position information can be written in the rewritable area.     摘要: An optical medium comprises an information layer and first and second transparent plates interposing the information layer and having about the same thicknesses. A light beam illuminates the information layer from a front side or from a back side of the medium when the medium is inserted erroneously. Information is reproduced or recorded when the light beam illuminates the front side thereof. The information layer comprises a second area for recording a data pattern on which a direction of data arrangement can be decided easily, besides a first area for recording main information. In order to decide a side of an optical head, the data pattern in the second area is reproduced, and the side can be decided according to a difference in direction of data arrangement in reproduced signals.
