Abstract:
A method of hard surface treatment and liquid compositions comprising a polymeric material with a very degree of branching in a liquid carrier are described. A polymeric material obtained by polymerising a monomer having at least one terminal -NR1R2 group, at least one terminal carboxylic acid derivative capable of reacting with the -NR1R2 group and at least one further group selected from terminal NR1R2 groups and terminal carboxylic acid derivatives, wherein R1 and R2 my be the same on different and are such that the -NR1R2 group is capable of reacting with the carboxylic acid derivative.
Abstract:
The present invention provides novel compositions prepared from a first oligomer containing reactive functional groups capable of reaction at effective rates (at normal processing temperatures) with a co-reactive second component possessing functionality that is complementary to that of the first oligomer. The compositions may be used as coatings, including hard surface coatings, clear coatings, powder coatings and pattern coatings; as adhesives, including pressure sensitive adhesives and not melt adhesives; as sealants; as optical coatings; as blown microfibers (BMF); as high refractive index optical materials; as barrier films; in microreplication; as low adhesion backsizes, (LABs) and release coatings.

The invention relates to hyperbranched compounds with a tetrafunctional central group of the general formula (I) C[-Aq-X-]m [-Ar-X-]n [-As-X-]o [-At-X-]p, where the indices and variables have the following meanings: m + n + o + p are 4; m is a whole number between 1 and 3 and n, o and p are 0 or a whole number between 1 and 3; q, r, s and t are a whole number between 1 and 5, q being greater than r, s, t; X is -O-, -S-, or -NH-; A is -CR2-, where R is -H, -F, -Cl, -Br, -CN, -NO2, C1-C3-alkyl or haloalkyl or a C1-C3-alkoxy rest or, when q, r, s and/or t are at least 2, a C2-C4-alkanediyl and/or oxaalkanediyl rest, which bridges between 2 and 5 carbon atoms of the rest -A-, and/or an oxygen atom -O- which bridges between 3 and 5 carbon atoms of the rest -A-. The invention also relates to the use of said compounds as functional components in substance mixtures or for producing hyperbranched or dendrimeric higher-generation compounds.
Abstract:
A highly weathering-resistant coating material exhibits an excellent water resistance and water repellency. The coating material contains a vinyl-type polymer that contains a pendant carbosiloxane dendrimer structure. The coating material is used on construction materials, buildings and structures undercoated with an organic coating material, automobiles, railroad rolling stock, ships, aircraft, and bridges, commercial and industrial plants, and electrical and electronic instruments and devices.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a dendritic macromolecule with branches prepared from halogen cyanide units composed of a monohalogenated hydrocarbon compound comprising 3-50 carbon atoms and at least one cyanide group, the halogen and the cyanide group being separated from one another by at least 3 carbon atoms. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of a dendritic macromolecule, comprising a core and at least one branch emanating from the core, characterized in that the process comprises the steps (a) through (c): (a) substantially every functional group of the core molecule is reacted with monomeric halogen cyanide units, (b) substantially every incorporated cyanide group is reduced to an amine, (c) substantially every amine group is reacted with monomeric halogen cyanide units, steps (b) and (c) being conducted alternately.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a dendritic macromolecule, comprising a core and branches emanating from the core, characterised in that the branches are prepared from vinyl cyanide units. The invention also relates to a process with which the dendritic macromolecule according to the invention can be prepared. The dendritic macromolecules according to the invention are not sensitive to degradation through hydrolysis reactions and are also very stable at a high temperature. The process is very suitable for use on a large scale and the synthesized intermediates do not have to be isolated.
