The device for collecting blood specimens by venipuncture for laboratory tests consists of a hollow support (10) fitted with a double-ended needle at one end and a sleeve (1) with a plunger (5) that can be fitted into and removed from the cavity in said support (10), said sleeve (1) being sealed at one end by a pierceable membrane. In a preferred embodiment a mechanical system for automatic operation of the plunger is also envisaged. The double-ended needle consists of an active needle that enters the vein, positioned eccentrically to the axis of the support, and a passive needle (21) that punctures the sleeve membrane.

Das neue Sicherheits-Blutentnahmegerät umfasst als Hauptbestandteile einen Spritzenkörper (SK) mit Kanülenhalter, einen in den Spritzenkörper einzudrückenden Auffangbehälter (AB) sowie ein durchgehendes Rohr (R). Der Auffangbehälter liegt in Form eines Hohlzylinders (11) mit vorn angebrachtem, fixiertem Abdichtungspfropfen (12) aus elastischem Material und mit innen angebrachtem, gegenüber der Kolbeninnenwand beweglichem Abdichtungskolben (13) vor. Der Spritzenkörper weist an seinem hinteren Ende Grifflappen (21) und an der Stirnfläche (22) einen Kanülenhalter (23) auf. Das durchgehende Rohr ist mittels eines Abschlussstückes (31) in einem Verschlussblock (32) in Richtung Geräte-Längsachse beweglich gelagert, wobei der Verschlussblock (32) dicht an der vorderen Abschliessfläche (22) befestigt ist und eine flüssigkeitsführende Verbindung zwischen Kanüleninnenraum und innerem Hohlraum (33) des Verschlussblockes (32) schafft, und wobei das am durchgehenden Rohr dicht fixierte Abschlussstück (31) bei Druck auf das Rohr in Richtung Gerätespitze eine flüssigkeitsführende Verbindung zwi schen dem Rohr-Innenraum und dem inneren Hohlraum (33) schafft, und bei Zug auf das durchgehende Rohr diese Verbindung flüssigkeitsdicht abschliesst. @ A multiple liquid sample needle assembly is provided. The assembly includes a housing with a sample receiving chamber having translucent or transparent walls for determining whether access to the sample source in question has been obtained. The invention utilizes a highly absorbent material in a form which allows venting of gases displaced from the housing chamber by the liquid sample being obtained, which material expands upon contact with the liquid sample to provide a liquid impervious barrier. The improvement in this invention is the absorbent material in a separate sleeve-like form which may be a laminate or a compacted tablet sleeve of the absorbent material for rapid and easy insertion between the two hub parts forming the assembly housing. The arrangement herein is particularly appropriate for mass production techniques in that two housing parts may have inserted therein the tablet sleeve of the invention, rather than as in previous approaches where an absorbent material similar to that utilized herein in a sleeve or tablet like form was introduced in a loose non-precise powder form for a relatively imperfect seal between two housing parts. The invention herein contemplates sonic welding, gluing, or snap fitting of the housing parts together in a further production line procedure.

A syringe for hypodermic biopsy featuring automatic plunger-return is set forth herein. It comprises a cylindrical body (1) furnished with a central cylindrical chamber (9)-the latter surrounded by an annular cavity (8)- inside which a plunger (13) consisting of two coaxial cylindrical bodies (14 and 15) with respective fore-end seals (19 and 20) is caused to slide, and in so doing create a fluid/airtight seal; the inner cylindrical body (15) of said plunger (13) carrying the moving core (6) of a hypodermic needle (7) should this be employed to the end of impeding entry into the latter of foreign bodies. Automatic return of the plunger (13) is produced either by expansion of the air compressed within said annular chamber (8) by outer seal (19) during the plunger's (13) forward stroke, or by introduction from without of pressurized fluid into said annular chamber via an entry hole (22), or alternatively, by fitting a spring (21) to the fore end of said plunger outer cylinder (14), thereby dispensing with the seal (19).
