A roller type developing apparatus for a cycolor type color video printer. A pair of side plates (41,41′) are mounted on a base (40) of the color video printer and spaced apart from each other, the side plates each are provided with a vertical mounting hole (41a,41′a). The upper and lower pressing rollers (43,44) each are rotatably supported between the side plates (41,41′) and, provided with a clearance (C) for allowing the cylith film and the receiver paper to pass therethrough at the same time. The upper and lower support bearings (45,46) are vertically mounted in each mounting hole of the side plate (41,41′) and connected to respective end shafts (43a,44a) of the upper and lower pressing rollers (43,44), respectively, and each is adapted for supporting the upper and lower pressing rollers (43,44). The pressure controlling member (48,48′) is adapted for controlling the clearance (C) in order to control the pressure for the upper and lower pressing rollers (43,44). The present invention provides a roller type developing apparatus which is provided with the clearance (C), thereby preventing the deflection of the pressing rollers (43,44) and the jamming of the cycolor paper, and providing the equality of the coloring and the compactness of the color video printer.

The improved image forming apparatus with a capability for automatically identifying the type of originals measures the reflected light from an original of interest with at least two sensors for the light of at least one of three primary colors, constructs a discriminant function that makes use of the differences in spectral reflection density between originals and which uses as parameters all the values of measurements obtained or with the higher and lower values being cut off, and automatically identifies the type of the original by discriminating color photographic originals from another type of originals such as color printed originals or black-and-white originals on the basis of the value of said discriminant function. The image forming apparatus may measure the reflected light from the original with sensors for the light of three primary colors and identify a low-density, low-contrast original by means of a predetermined discriminant formula. Based on the results of such identification, the image forming apparatus selects the proper light-sensitive material and exposure conditions according to the type of original of interest or the low-density, low-contrast to original to be used and performs appropriate image formation. In spite of the use of a simple discriminant function or formula, the image forming apparatus is capable of correct identification of the type of original whether its size is regular or irregular as in the case of small-size documents or bulky materials, thereby allowing for appropriate image formation.

Each of the frames is placed a predetermined linear distance from an optical axis of the lens to create a plurality of angular exposure zones corresponding respectively to the plurality of the frames and, for each of the plurality of angular exposure zones; the lens is placed in the center of the angular exposure zone; and the frame corresponding to the angular exposure zone is illuminated for delivering an image exposure of the frame to the periscope along the center of the angular exposure zone; thereby removing the translation (offset of) the image exposure delivered to the periscope from the lens along the center of the angular exposure zone from the periscope to the print material by rotating the periscope about the first axis and rotating the periscope about the second axis to restore the optical axis path to its original length.
