摘要: Medical devices for implantation in a body vessel are provided. A medical device according to the invention comprises a support structure and one or more graft members comprising a valve portion and a constraining portion. The support structure has a first, unexpanded configuration and a second, expanded configuration. The constraining portion is adapted to substantially prevent the support structure from achieving the second, expanded configuration. The valve portion is adapted to permit fluid flow through a body vessel in a first direction and substantially prevent fluid flow through the vessel in a second, opposite direction.

摘要: A delivery system, including a balloon catheter having a balloon with distal and proximal ends and a guide catheter for delivering the balloon catheter to a treatment site, is disclosed. The balloon tapers from at least one of the distal and proximal ends of the balloon to an active region on the surface of the balloon. The active region has a diameter D, which is greater than a diameter of the balloon at one or more of the distal and proximal ends of the balloon. Preferably, one or more of the lengths L1, which is the distance from the proximal end of the balloon to the active region, and L2, which is the distance from the distal end of the balloon to the active region, are between three to thirty times the diameter D1.

摘要: A repair device (10) for affixing a migrating stent graft (30) to the interior surface of a vessel wall (31). The repair device includes tubular graft (11) with a bare or uncovered stent (16) affixed to the proximal end (12). The bare stent includes a plurality of distally pointed barbs (17) for securing the repair device to a vessel wall. A second stent (15) is positioned in the passage (14) of the tubular graft to expand the graft against the interior surface of the migrating stent graft (30). Proximally pointing barbs (20) are affixed to the struts of the second stent and extend through the graft material for securing the repair device to the migrating stent graft. Biological glue (22) and other sealing material (23) can be applied to the tubular graft and/or stents for sealing the repair device against the vessel wall and/or the interior of the migrating stent graft.

摘要: A multiple-sided medical device comprises a closed frame of a single piece of wire or other resilient material and having a series of bends and interconnecting sides. The device has both a flat configuration and a second, folded configuration that comprises a self-expanding stent. The stent is pushed from a delivery catheter into the lumen of a duct or vessel. One or more barbs are attached to the frame of the device for anchoring or to connect additional frames. A covering of fabric or other flexible material such as DACRON, PTFE, or collagen, is sutured or attached to the frame to form an occlusion device, a stent graft, or an artificial valve such as for correcting incompetent veins in the lower legs and feet. A partial, triangular-shaped covering over the lumen of the device allows the valve to open with normal blood flow and close to retrograde flow.

摘要: A stent deployment device (10) includes a catheter (12), a stent (14) positioned on the catheter (12), and a sleeve (16) carried on the catheter (12). The sleeve (16) has a portion (18) extending fully over and containing the stent (14). The stent deployment device (10) also includes a mechanism (20) for splitting at least the portion (18) of the sleeve (16) extending over the stent (14) and, preferably, for splitting the entire sleeve (16). Splitting of the sleeve portion (18) permits expansion of the stent (14). The mechanism (20) can include an inflatable, nondistending balloon (22) carried on the catheter (12), the stent (14) and the sleeve portion (18) being positioned over the balloon (22). The stent (14) can be self-expanding or can be expanded by the balloon (22) itself. It is preferred that at least the portion (18) of the sleeve (16) extending over the stent (14) includes a longitudinally extending structure (46) for ensuring that the sleeve portion (18) will in fact split upon operation of the mechanism (20).

摘要: A device for closure of a patent foramen ovale. The device includes at least one elongated tissue anchor at the distal end of the device. A distal end portion of the tissue anchor is selectively deployable between a closed position in which the distal end portion of the tissue anchor is capable of penetrating the septum and the flap, and a radially extensible position in which the distal end portion of the tissue anchor is capable of engaging the septum or flap so that the septum and flap may be urged into registry. A deployment member is associated with the tissue anchor for selectively deploying the distal end portion of the tissue anchor between the closed position and the radially extensible position. A closure element is disposed at the distal end of the device. The closure element is engageable with the septum and the flap when the septum and flap are in registry, for maintaining such registry. An actuator is associated with the closure element for selectively engaging the closure element with the septum and flap.

摘要: Delivery systems for self-expanding devices are provided having a system proximal portion with a handle, an elongate middle section delivery device with an outer sheath and inner compression member, and a system distal portion including an outer guide channel member with first and second end portions defining a guide channel that slidably receives an inner guide channel member having a guide channel, the guide channels being substantially aligned. A mounting region for self-expanding devices is disposed radially between the inner and outer guide channel members. The outer guide channel member has a stepped profile from a first outer diameter to a second smaller outer diameter located near a transition region having a breech position opening for passage of a wire guide, catheter, or other medical instrument. The outer member is axially slideable relative to the inner member to deploy a self-expanding device. Methods of using and manufacturing are also provided.
