    摘要: The electrophoretic display panel (1) for displaying a picture and subsequently displaying a subsequent picture has a pixel (2) having an electrophoretic medium (5) having first and second charged particles (6, 7) and an optical state depending on the positions of the particles (6, 7) in the common region (30) of the pixel (2). Furthermore, transition control means are able to control a transition of the first and the second particles (6, 7) being in substantially separated domains of in the common region (30) for displaying the picture to substantially separated domains of the common region (30) for displaying the subsequent picture. For the display panel (1) to be able to have an attainable optical state for displaying the subsequent picture which is unequal to the optical state determined by the mixture of the first and second particles (6, 7), even if the particles (6, 7) have substantially equal electrophoretic mobilities, the transition control means are further able to control the first and the second particles (6, 7) to be in substantially separated domains of the common region (30) during the transition.

At least one data light generating device (ALj; LAS) directs the data light (Lj) to the light sensitive element (LSij). A data driver (DD) receives input data (ID) representing an image and controls the at least one data light generating element (ALj; LAS) to produce an amount of light in accordance with the input data (ID).

    摘要: A color picture display device having a shadow mask is provided comprising a cathode ray tube (CRT) having a gun (1) for generating at least two electron beams mutually different colors and a display screen (2). The screen has phosphor deposits for emitting light of different colors. The device has a deflection system (3) for scanning the electron beams across the display screen (2) in a pattern of successive, substantially parallel lines, each line being scanned in a scanning direction. The device further comprises means for diverging the landing points on the screen for at least one of the beams with respect to one of the other beams in a direction other than the scanning direction, and means for interpolation of color video data, used to control the beam intensity, in order to reduce shift errors due to the diverged beams. Further, a method for operation of such a color picture display device is disclosed.

    摘要: An optical system that can add an optical depth information to a two-dimensional image (72) represented by substantially collimated light, e.g. by using a collimated light source in front of a LCD display. The optical system includes a first array of optical lenses (70) arranged at a first distance in front of the two-dimensional image (72), and a second array of optical lenses (71) arranged at a second distance in front of the two-dimensional image (72), the second distance being larger than the first distance. Optical properties, e.g. focal length, can be adjusted for the optical lenses of the first and second array of optical lenses (70, 71) in response to the optical depth information. The optical system can serve as an optical front for 3D multiview displays. Depending on embodiment, both horizontal and vertical angular resolution can be obtained, and the front end exhibits only a small brightness loss.

    摘要: A beam shaping device (1; 31) comprising first (3; 33) and second (4; 37) optically transparent substrates, a liquid crystal layer (2; 36) sandwiched there between, and first (5; 34) and second (6; 35) electrodes arranged on a side of the liquid crystal layer (2; 36) facing the first substrate (3; 34). The beam shaping device (1; 31) is controllable between beam-shaping states, each permitting passage of light through the beam-shaping device in a direction perpendicular thereto. The beam shaping device (1; 31) is configured in such a way that application of a voltage (V) across the first (5; 34) and second (6; 35) electrodes results in an electric field having a portion essentially parallel to the liquid crystal layer (2; 36) in a segment thereof between neighboring portions of the electrodes (5, 6; 34; 35) and extending substantially from the first substrate (3; 34) to the second (4; 35) substrate. In this way a relatively high refractive index gradient can be obtained across short distances, which enables a very efficient beam shaping. The electric field can be achieved by utilizing electrodes provided on one side of the liquid crystal layer, in a so-called in-plane configuration. The device can be used in an autostereoscopic display device, for switching between 2D and 3D modes.
