A polypropylene resin containing an alpha -olefinic copolymer rubber and an inorganic filler is stabilized by incorporating therein the following 6 components: (A) a hindered phenolic compound having a molecular weight of not less than 500, (B) a high-molecular hindered piperidine compound such as poly[{6-(1,1,3,3 - tetramethylbutyl)amino-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diyl}{(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4 -piperidyl)-imino}hexamethylene{(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-pi peridyl)-imino}], (C) a low-molecular hindered piperidine compound such as 2-methyl-2-(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl)amino-N-(2,2,6,6-tetrameth yl-4-piperidyl)-propionamide, (D) a benzoate compound such as 2,4-di-t-butylphenyl 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, (E) a phosphorous compound such as bis(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl) pentaerythritol diphosphite, and (F) an amide compound such as ethylenebisstearylamide. This composition may also contain a sulfur compound such as dialkyl thiodipropionate and pentaerythritol tetrakis(3-alkylthiopropionate). It can be crystallized,with seeding, from a mixed aromatic hydrocarbon/aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent which preferably also includes water-soluble organic solvent.

A polyolefin composition comprising a polyolefin, and the following components:
(A) a phenolic compound represented by the formula (I): wherein R¹ is hydrogen or an alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms; (B) an acrylate compound represented by the formula (II): wherein R² is an alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, R³ is an alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R⁴ is hydrogen or an alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and R⁵ is hydrogen or methyl; and (C) at least one organic phosphorous compound such as bis(2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methylphenyl) pentaerythritol diphosphite. This composition is stable against thermal processing, thermal oxidation and discoloration, and it is especially useful for fibers and films. Further incorporation of a polycondensate of dimethyl succinate with 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine is effective to improve the light stability of the composition.

A styrene/butadiene copolymer rubber to be used for automobile tires is lowered in its rolling resistance by blending it with carbon black and the following components (A) and (B):
(A) a dinitrodiamine compound represented by the following formula (I): wherein X is a divalent organic group such as an alkylene, R¹ is hydrogen or an organic group such as an alkyl, provided that two nitrogen atoms linking through X may further link through R¹, and R² and R³ are each hydrogen or an alkyl, provided that R² and R³ may conjointly form a ring; and (B) a sulfide compound selected from dibenzothiazyl disulfide, tetralkylthiuram disulfide, and alkyl- or hydroxy-substituted phenol sulfide resin. The dinitrodiamine compound (A) and the sulfide compound (B) are added simultaneously to the rubber together with the carbon black in a first kneading step of a high temperature. The resulting rubber composition is lowered in its loss factor (tan δ) at around 60°C as compared with the case where the dinitrodiamine compound (A) is added alone, and it contributes to decrease the rolling resistance of tires made from the rubber composition.

A resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a composition comprising 5 to 95% by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin component (A) and 95 to 5% by weight of a thermoplastic polyester component (B) and a component (D) comprising one or more compounds of formula (I) wherein X is a divalent straight or branched chain aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic group which may optionally be substituted by one or more alkyl, halogen or oxygen-containing substituents and wherein the carbon chain of the aliphatic and cycloaliphatic groups may be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, the groups R¹ are identical and each is hydrogen, or a straight or branched chain aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic group optionally substituted by one or more alkyl halogen or oxygen-containing substituents and wherein the carbon chain of the aliphatic and cycloaliphatic groups may be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, or wherein the two groups R¹ form a divalent straight or branched chain aliphatic group, in which the carbon chain may be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, such that the two groups R¹ together with the nitrogen atoms to which they are bonded and the group X from a ring, and the two groups Z are identical and each is a group of formula wherein R² and R³ are the the same or different and each is hydrogen or an alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or R² and R form a divalent straight or branched chain aliphatic group such that R² and R3 and the carbon atom to which they are bonded from a ring, wherein the total amount of all compounds of formula (I) is at least 0.01 parts by weight and the maximum amount of any one compound of formula (I) is 10 parts by weight.
