摘要: For the creation and self-organization of peer-groups the JXTA protocol may be used, which includes messages such as peer or peer-group advertisements and services such as the discovery service. Conventional peer-groups of this type are static and need restart after any modification, e.g. a new service. A method for dynamically managing hardware and/or software elements, e.g. services, utilized and/or offered by such peer-groups comprises detecting a change within a peer-group (OZ), creating a new peer-group identifier, publishing within the peer-group a first peer-group advertisement message (PGA1) that includes the current and the new peer-group identifier and pointers to current services including the detected modification, accepting the new peer-group identifier by the other peer-group members, and publishing a second peer-group advertisement message (PGA2) in the superordinate peer-group (NPG), wherein both advertisement messages may be identical. Thus, peer-groups may operate continuously while peers modify, add or delete services.

摘要: Available storage media capacity will be doubling every 2 years. In 2005 it will likely be possible to store about 80 movies on a single 400 GByte hard disk. Because it is no longer possible to access specific recordings stored in a book shelf by just looking at the video cassettes or discs and some annotations on their cover, personal video or audio recording will require new ways to organise and electronically search for content, including automatic content referencing and automatic content location. According to the invention the URI string is extended by additional information that allows to locate specific information within a file that is referenced by such URI. Similar types of URI extensions are used for describing trick mode information. Such extensions take into account specific requirements of the storage format involved.

摘要: Consumer electronic devices, such as e.g. high-definition movie players for removable storage media such as optical discs, may provide possibilities for advanced interactivity for the user, implemented as software applications. A question arising generally with such software applications is what the life cycle of such an application is, and who may control it. The invention provides a method for executing software applications within a playback device for audio-video data, wherein data from a first removable storage medium are read for a software application to be executed within said playback device, and the data comprise an indication defining a termination condition for the application. Based on said termination code and depending on how the medium holding the application is ejected, the application is terminated or may survive.

摘要: MPEG video uses motion compensated prediction for coding pictures. A GOP includes at least one intra-coded picture to start decoding with and a number of inter-coded pictures and normally also includes bi-directionally predicted pictures. However, the GOP structure is not constructed for playing GOPs in backward direction in a trickplay mode across GOP boarders. The invention facilitates, for different GOP structures, a smooth backward video mode thereby reducing the required number of frame buffers and achieving near real-time speed presentation. In some embodiments some I and/or P pictures are decoded more than once. The invention also allows backwards decoding of MPEG-4-AVC GOPs including B-stored pictures.

摘要: The performance of transmission and storage methods in the field of data streaming shall be increased. In order to achieve this aim a method and an apparatus for generating data packets are suggested wherein a data packet to be filled having a first end near its start address and a second end near its end address as well as payload data (Data 1 to Data 5) to be filled in the data packet are provided. The data packet is filled with the payload data beginning at the second end of the data packet. As the start position of each payload entity (Data 1 to Data 5) does not depend on the size of the header anymore but only on the size of its predecessors, each payload entity can be stored in the packet buffer immediately without intermediate use of an temporary buffer.

摘要: A method for hierarchical disparity estimation on an image pair, wherein image pyramids are created (10) by successively downscaling each image of the image pair, and an apparatus (20) configured to perform the method are described. An initial disparity estimator (22) applies (11) a full search on a highest level of the image pyramids to determine initial disparity estimates, the highest level having the lowest resolution. A disparity propagator (23) passes (12) the initial disparity estimates to a next lower level of the image pyramids. An allocator (24) then partitions (13) the pixels of each remaining hierarchy level of the image pyramids into two or more groups of pixels, where each pixel in a group of pixels can be processed independently from remaining pixels of that group of pixels. A disparity estimator (25) estimates (14) disparity values for the pixels of a first group of pixels utilizing disparity estimates from a next higher level of the image pyramids. The disparity estimator (25) further estimates (15) disparity values for the pixels of remaining groups of pixels utilizing disparity estimates from a previously processed group of pixels in that hierarchy level.
