摘要: A syringe serving also as an ampule that can save labor in transferring contained liquid from an ampule container to a syringe and which is not bulky when disposing it. A syringe serving also as an ampule having an extruding piston integrally in a bellows-like cylindrical portion sealingly containing liquid medicine and a syringe for collecting blood having a bellows-like cylindrical portion, a bellows-contracted-state retainer and a bellows-expanding grip, both being characterised in that the cylindrical portion of the syringe body is made like bellows and that to ensure smooth expansion and/or contraction of the bellows-like cylindrical portion, pleated reinforcing portions are longitudinally provided at several positions. Furthermore, both syringes are each provided with a bellows-expanded/contracted-state retainer in order to retain a contracted state of the bellows-like cylindrical portion. In addition, each of both syringes is made conical at the leading end thereof and comprises a piston having a depression formed in a rear portion thereof for pressing by a finger and a needle portion that can be fitted into the leading end of a cylindrical barrel portion. In the syringe serving also as an example, a projection is provided inside the needle portion so as to break a sealer for sealing contained liquid and the leading end of the barrel portion of the syringe may be threadingly fitted to a three-way cock at drip infusion.

摘要: A needle assembly can include a needle and a proximal compartment forming a reservoir for collecting blood that flows through an inner lumen of needle. The needle assembly may also include a needle tip shield for capturing a sharpened distal tip of the needle. The needle tip shield can form a fluid pathway through which blood contained within the reservoir is expelled. The volume of the reservoir can be reduced to cause blood to be expelled from the needle tip shield such as by compressing the proximal compartment or a plunger connected to the proximal compartment or by moving a plunger into the reservoir. The fluid pathway of the needle tip shield can either be the same pathway through which the sharpened distal tip is withdrawn into the needle tip shield, or can be a separate pathway.

摘要: A medical needle extending in a specified direction, wherein the cross sectional area of a vertical cross section cut by a plane perpendicular to the specified direction is regularly increased or decreased depending on a distance from the tip part thereof. The medial needle comprises a plurality of maximum points where the cross sectional area of the vertical cross section is maximized and a plurality of minimum points where the cross sectional area of the vertical cross section is minimized. The cross sectional area of the vertical cross section at the maximum point nearest the tip part is equal to or larger than the cross sectional area of the vertical cross section at the other maximum points. Thus, when the medial needle is pierced in a patient, pain given to the patient can be minimized and damage to the pierced portion of the patient can be minimized.

摘要: The present invention relates to a self-blunting blood collection needle (55) in which a blunting member (26a) is deployed upon withdrawal of a blood collection tube (56a) from the tube holder (e.g., 136), to blunt the needle (22) and so safeguard the patient and the technician from inadvertent needle sticks. The blunting member (26a) is retracted to re-sharpen the needle (22) when a subsequent collection tube is inserted into the holder (136). The deployment and retraction of the blunting member (26a) is accomplished with a mechanism (142) that is responsive to the insertion and withdrawal of the blood collection tube (56a) to retract and deploy the blunding member (26a) accordingly. One feature of the present invention is that the mechanism (142) effects blunting and re-sharpening of the needle without requiring that the technician manipulates the mechanism in a manner different from that of conventional, non-blunting collection needles. Four mechanisms are disclosed: a rack and pinion mechanism (42); a cylindrical cam mechanism (142); a lever mechanism (242) and a reversing strap mechanism (342).
