Radiant energy (7) is used in conjunction with a boron phosphide semiconducting electrode (2) to at least partially power an electrolytic cell (1) in the generation of hydrogen (8), utilizing a bromide, preferably hydrogen bromide, as the essential electrolyte component in the electrolytic cell. This solves overvoltage and corrosion, problems associated with the use of conventional electrolyte (5) results in the broadening of the selection of semiconductor electrodes which can be used in the process and apparatus of the present invention enabling the boron phosphide semiconducting electrode to produce superior anticorrosive and radiant energy gathering results over conventional systems. The boron phosphide semiconductors (2, 3) can be either boron phosphide alone or multilayered structures with other semiconducting material. The hydrogen generated from such systems can be used to power a fuel cell.

Un robinet est utilise dans des conteneurs de liquide du type a sachet renferme dans le boitier. Le robinet possede un col (18) avec un passage (26) au travers du col. Le passage est ferme a son extremite exterieure par un clapet manipulable (28). Le col (18) possede un orifice d'ecoulement de liquide (40) communiquant lateralement avec le passage (26), et un organe de soupape (69) qui recouvre normalement l'orifice (40) pour fermer le robinet. Un diaphragme deformable elastiquement (64) est attache a l'organe de soupape (69) de maniere a s'etendre en travers et fermer le passage (26). Ce diaphragme (64) est concu de telle sorte que sa deformation appliquee manuellement exterieurement souleve l'organe de soupape (69) en l'ecartant de l'orifice (40) pour ouvrir le robinet etablissant ainsi un passage d'ecoulement de liquide entre l'extremite interne du passage (26) et l'exterieur de cet orifice (40). Sont egalement decrits un chapeau de soupape monobloc, un autre assemblage de soupape pour un robinet comprenant un organe de soupape conique mobile axialement pour ouvrir et fermer un passage de fluide, et un assemblage de conteneurs ayant un sachet flexible interieur dans un boitier externe relativement rigide avec un col attache au sachet interieur et pouvant coulisser au travers d'une ouverture amenagee dans le boitier.

An in-mold label dispenser (10) for supplying labels to a plastic blow molding machine (12) is disclosed as having a dispensing head (36) on which a first locator (40) is mounted so as to be movable from a withdrawn position at one side of the mold (14) to an inserted position between open mold sections (16) and into engagement with a second locator (42) mounted at the other side of the mold (14). The engagement of the first and second locators (40, 42) from opposite sides of the mold (14) provides accurate location of the dispensing head (36) during movement from a mold aligned position to a label transfer position to provide transferring of the labels (34) to the mold (14) from one or more label magazines (30). First and second supports (48, 50) on which the locators (40, 42) are mounted are moved by first and second actuators (52, 54) to provide the movement between the mold aligned and label transfer positions.

A unitary spigot valve for dispensing liquid, as from a container, includes a body defining a dispensing opening, a rigid valve lever having an inner end portion connected with the body at a rectilinear pivot hinge for movement between dispensing and sealing positions, a spigot on the valve lever inner end portion adjacent to the hinge and configurated and arranged as to plug the dispensing opening upon movement of the valve lever into sealing position, a flexible diaphragm connected to interior walls of the body and with the spigot at hinge lines, the diaphragm allowing liquid flow to the valve only via the dispensing opening, and first snap-fitting means on the body and the second snap-fitting means connected with the valve lever, these snap-fitting means means being configurated and sized for engagement to retain the spigot in sealing position and prevent disengagement from such position. The spigot may extend from a rigid base portion of the valve lever. The second snap-fitting means may be the outer end portion of the lever, and the first snap-fitting means may comprise detent projections on the body adjacent the valve lever when in its sealing position, the projections being resiliently deformed momentarily upon movement of the valve lever into sealing position, then engaging the lever to retain it in such position. The second snap-fitting means may be a radially extending annular portion of the spigot, the first snap-fitting means may be a radially inwardly extending portion of the opening wall, so that these annular portions interfere when a spigot is moved into the dispensing opening and are resiliently deformed, then engaged to retain the spigot in sealing position. The wall defining the dispensing opening and the spigot exterior configuration may be tapered radially inwardly in the direction of the insertion of the spigot for force-fitting sealing relation upon urging the spigot into the opening.

A self-closing valve assembly comprises a hollow tubular spout (11) and a valve member (12) formed of resiliently flexible material and having spaced, interconnected hollow tubular inner and outer walls (25 and 24 respectively) which provide a socket (26) to receive the free end of the spout (11). The conduit through the spout is closed by a transverse wall (36) across the end of the inner wall (25), this transverse wall (36) bearing a lever (35) which can be moved to distort the transverse wall (36) and the inner wall (25) thereby opening a dispensing passage for dispensing liquid through the valve. In order to make the inner wall highly flexible, and to avoid damage to a seal caused by repeated flexing of the seal, sealing between the inner wall (25) and the spout (11) is effected by a rib (20) formed on the inner wall of the spout. To prevent accidental movement of the lever (35) and consequent breakage of the seal between the rib (20) and the inner wall (25) the valve may include a sleeve insert (41) which slides within the inner wall (25) and covers the lever (35).
