Außerdem weist er eine hohe Packungsdichte, niedrige Druckverluste und z.B. weniger als 50 mbar, eine hohe Dauerhaftigkeit und Robustheit sowie niedrige Herstellungskosten auf. Der Flachrohrwärmetauscher weist Flachrohre auf, die flache Wärmetauscherabschnitte und runde Enden aufweisen. Die runden Enden definieren Quereinströmungszonen, die eine gleichmäßige Gasverteilung eines Heißgases zwischen den Flachabschnitten der Flachrohre (22) bei niedrigen Druckverlusten erbringen. Der Wirkungsgrad eines solchen Flachrohrwärmetauschers ist mit dem eines Plattenwärmetauschers vergleichbar, wobei jedoch eine wesentlich höhere Robustheit gegeben ist.

Die Erfindung betrifft ferner ein Verfahren zum Kühlen eines Mediums und verschiedene Verwendungen eines erfindungsgemäßen Kühlers.
