To ensure frequency stability of a radio frequency in a radio communication apparatus for generating the radio frequency synchronizing with a transmission path frequency of digital data transmitted from a wire digital transmission path and so on. Concerning influence of a difference of a transmission path frequency that obstructs stability of a radio carrier frequency, the difference of a transmission path frequency (12b) is compared with a high-stability radio reference clock (22a), the difference frequency (17a) is detected by a counter (71), and frequency offset of a radio-station-transmission signal of a local oscillator (61) is made on the basis of the differential frequency. By the operation, the influence of the difference of the transmission path frequency that obstructs the stability of the radio carrier frequency (63a) can be compensated.

An AFC control apparatus in mobile communication equipment includes a despreading unit (4), first integrator (5), and control section (10). The despreading section (4) despreads the reception signal. The first integrator (5) integrates despread outputs obtained by despreading, of pilot symbols contained in a pilot channel of the reception signal, N (N is a number of 2 or more) consecutive first symbols and N second symbols succeeding the N first symbols, and generates first and second integral outputs. The control section (10) detects any phase shift amount between the first and second integral outputs and controls the frequency of the local signal in accordance with the detected phase shift amount. An AFC control method and mobile communication equipment having the above apparatus and method are also disclosed.

The locator is integrated with a mobile unit of a cellular network, which derives its reference frequency from a local oscillator (26). A frequency measuring module (28) counts the number of digital numbers derived from the local oscillator passing between two consecutive time-tagged indicators of the cellular network. The estimated frequency is calculated by dividing the number of digital numbers by the nominal time interval (T0) between the indicators.

An AFC (Automatic Frequency Control) device and a method of controlling reception frequency in a dual-mode terminal. When a dual-mode terminal uses one or two AFC circuits (151), time required for acquiring tracking synchronization in a PLL circuit (117, 137) for a frequency can be reduced using a test augmentation frequency being an integer multiple of a tracking synchronization acquiring residual frequency of a PLL (117, 137) circuit for another frequency to which the first frequency transits for reliable synchronization acquisition. Errors with respect to an output dynamic range caused by use of two AFCs are reduced and thus the demodulation performance of a receiver is ensured by varying quantization bits of an A/D clock based on the dynamic range of residual errors in a frequency area. The demodulation performance can also be ensured by operating an ACPE circuit for an AFC circuit having many residual frequency errors. In this method, the frequency characteristics of the dual-mode terminal are stabilized and the stability of a demodulator is increased due to a frequency offset. As a result, the stable demodulator performance is ensured.
