摘要:
One embodiment of the present invention provides a switch. The switch includes a virtual local area network (VLAN) configuration module. During operation, the VLAN configuration module maps local resources of the switch and/or locally coupled end device information to a global VLAN identifier, wherein the global VLAN is persistent across a fabric switch. The fabric switch is operable to accommodate a plurality of switches and operates as a single logical switch.

A method for communicating includes providing a hub-spoke satellite comprising receivers, transmitters, transmit switches, and a gateway switch structure. Prior to a time T, each of at least P receivers are used to receive one of at least P signals from P gateway terminals. During one frame, the gateway switch structure is used to switch the at least P signals to the plurality of transmit switches. Each of the at least P signals are switched into fixed location beams. After time T, each of at least Q receivers are used to receive a different one of at least Q signals from Q gateway terminals. During one frame, the gateway switch structure is used to switch the at least Q signals to the plurality of transmit switches. Each of the at least Q signals are switched into fixed location beams. Q and P are non-zero positive integers and Q > P.

A system and method can support a flooding mechanism using a multicast group in a middleware machine environment. The middleware machine environment can comprise a gateway instance that includes an external port for receiving one or more data packets from an external network. The middleware machine environment also comprises one or more host servers, each of which is associated with one or more virtual machines that can process the data packets. Furthermore, said host servers can provide virtual interfaces that belong to a virtual hub associated with the gateway instance. At least one said packet is a flooded packet that is specified with an unknown destination address when it is received at the external port. The gateway instance operates to send the flooded packet to the multicast group that operates to forward the flooded packet to one or more said host servers in the multicast group.

A data transfer device 210 is equipped with a plurality of communication ports 211a and 211b, a communication establishment processor 212, and a communication maintenance processor 213. The communication establishment processor 212 transmits and receives communication establishing information for establishing communication with an external device connected via the communication port to and from the external device. The communication maintenance processor 213 is configured to operate independently of the communication establishment processor 212 and, every time a predetermined transmission period elapses, transmits communication maintaining information for maintaining the establishment of communication with the external device, to the external device. In a state that communication with a plurality of external devices via the plurality of communication ports is established, the data transfer device 210 transmits data received from one of the plurality of external devices to the other one of the plurality of external devices.

One exemplary embodiment is directed to a method of tracking a plurality of communication paths in a connector assembly having a plurality of first attachment points and a plurality of second attachment points. The plurality of first attachment points and the plurality of second attachment points are configured to attach physical communication media to the connector assembly. The method comprises reading, from a storage device associated with the connector assembly first, information indicative of a plurality of communication paths formed within the connector assembly between the first attachment points and the second attachment points. The method further comprises reading second information stored on or in physical communication media that is attached to the connector assembly and communicating the first and second information to an aggregation point that is communicatively coupled to the connector assembly.

An ATM switching device comprising: at least one ATM switch element (SWEi); and means (Lli) for appending an emergency identification bit (EM) indicating whether or not an incoming ATM cell (Ci) is an urgent ATM cell, to the head of said ATM cell. When an ATM cell whose emergency identification bit represents a given logical value arrives at said ATM switch element, the ATM switch element holds all of ATM cells, other than ATM cells whose emergency identification bits represent said given logical values and which reside in the ATM switch element, in a congestion control memory buffer (MBi), so as to effect a switching of the urgent ATM cell as a top priority.

In some embodiments, a switch fabric system includes multiple access switches configured to be operatively coupled to a switch fabric. The multiple access switches include multiple ports each to be operatively coupled to a peripheral processing device. A first set of ports from the multiple ports and a second set of ports from the multiple ports are managed by a first network control entity when the switch fabric system is in a first configuration. The first set of ports is managed by the first network control entity and the second set of ports is managed by a second network control entity when the switch fabric system is in a second configuration. The second network control entity is automatically initiated when the system is changed from the first configuration to the second configuration.

A programmable network component for use in a plurality of network devices with a shared architecture. The programmable network component includes an interface with an external processing unit to provide management interface control between the external processing unit and a network device. The programmable network component also includes an interface with a plurality of internal busses each of which is coupled to the programmable network component and to at least one network component. The order of the at least one network component does not impact a protocol used by the programmable network component on the plurality of internal busses.
