n has the value 2, 3 or 4 and p is zero or an integer from 1 to 100, preferably from 1 to 50. The compounds are useful as free radical-forming initiators for the polymerisation of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, in either organic or aqueous media according to the solubility properties of the compounds.
