An den sich gegenüberliegenden Bremsbandenden (23, 25) sind zwei Ankerzapfen (37,39) befestigt, die von einem Bremsgestänge bei nicht betätigter Bremse so weit im Abstand voneinander gehalten werden, daß das Bremsband (21) nicht an der Bremstrommel (17) anliegt. Bei Bremsbetätigung werden die beiden genannten Ankerzapfen (37,39) gegeneinander gezogen. Zur Kompensation des Bremsbandverschleißes ist eine Gestängeverbindung (47) vorgesehen, auf deren eines Ende ein Klinkenrad (53, 55, 57) aufgeschraubt ist, durch deren Verdrehung sich der Abstand zwischen den beiden Ankerzapfen (37, 39) verändern läßt. Über einen Klinkenhebel (83) erfolgt die Verdrehung des Klinkenrades (53, 55, 57) entsprechend dem zunehmenden Bremsbandverschleiß. Sowohl das Bremsgestänge als auch das Gestänge für das Nachstellen des Klinkenrades (53, 55, 57) werden durch einen Hydraulikzylinder (63) betätigt.

In one aspect, a motion control device is coupled between an external motive input (200) and a rotary output device (300). The motion control device has a brake core (110) configured to produce an electromagnetic field when an electric current is applied. A brake band (130) made of a magnetically responsive material surrounds the brake core (110) and is coupled to the brake core (110) when the electric current is applied. A rotor (120) that is coupled to both the external motive input (200) and the rotary output surrounds at least the perimeter of the brake band (130) and is coupled to the brake band (130) for rotation together. When the electric current is applied, the rotor (120) and the brake core (110) are thus rotatably locked together to control rotary motion generated by actuating forces imparted by the external motive input (200).

The inventive brake also comprises a support (3) for said friction band, which can rotate around a first axis in a first braking position and exhibits two halt points (10, 11) for respective opposed end parts of the friction band. A first halt point has, relatively to the first axis, a lever arm (a) which is longer than the second halt point. According to the invention, the support (3) can rotate in a second braking position around a second axis relative to which the second halt point exhibits a longer lever arm.
