    Abstract: A Traffic control system 100 for managing the flow of vehicles within a predefined sector of a road, the predefined sector being divided into subsections and the traffic control system having a plurality of traffic control devices 1a-d connected to a network, each traffic control device is configured to control the flow of the traffic in a subsection of the predefined sector and comprises at least one communication unit 20 for receiving or transmitting data from a remotely located communication unit, wherein the communication unit 20 is configured to receive an entry request from a vehicle 10 approaching the subsection before entering said subsection, and transmit one token 2a-d with one entry permission flag 3a-d for said subsection to said vehicle 10 in response to said entry request, if at least one token 2a-d and at least one entry permission flag 3a-d is stored in a data storage space 13 linked to said subsection.

    Abstract: A tolling station (1) for tolling vehicles (2) of different classes (CL), the tolling station comprising an entrance section (3), a tolling section (5), and an intermediate section (7), wherein the tolling section (5) comprises a gate (8 j ) for each tolling lane (6 j ) and the entrance section (3) comprises at least one classification device (11 i ) to link an identifier (ID) to a determined class (CL), wherein the tolling station (1) further comprises a tracking device (13) configured to track vehicles (2) moving through the intermediate section (7) while having the corresponding identifier (ID) assigned to that vehicle (2) and to pass the vehicle's identifier (ID) to the respective gate (8 j ) the vehicle (2) exits to, and wherein each gate (8 j ) is configured to toll, or let pass, a vehicle (2) based on the class (CL) linked to the identifier (ID).
