The pretreatment process is used to convert biomass to a fuel or other useful chemicals by subjecting the feedstock to a rapid retention time under pressure and temperature and/or chemical reactant. The system includes a continuously-operating valve discharge apparatus to discharge pretreated feedstock while maintaining uniform pressure on the pretreatment system.

The upper inlet and the lower outlet communicate via a downstream passage having a first effective through-flow area, and the lower inlet and the upper outlet communicate via an upstream passage having a second effective through-flow area. The downstream passage includes a first helical rotor having a thread-direction that by a flow directed downstream causes the first rotor to rotate around its axis. The upstream passage includes a second helical rotor, wherein the rotors are mutually connected such that the first rotor drives the second rotor in rotation around its axis, and the second rotor has a thread-direction that upon rotation generates a flow directed upstream.

摘要: Disclosed is a unit (1) for filling receptacles (B) with filling materials, especially for filling bag-shaped or tubular cases. Said filling unit (1) comprises a worm conveyor (F) which moves inside a housing (2) and is provided with at least two axially parallel worms (3, 4, 11) that run in the same direction or in opposite directions and encompass screw elements. The screw elements of the worms (3, 4, 11), which are arranged around each shaft (5, 6, 10), radially engage into one another and press the filling material from a feed opening (E) into the receptacles (B) that are removably fastened to an outlet orifice (A). The peripheral edges (7, 8, 12) of the screw elements have a minimum amount of clearance (S) relative to the internal surfaces of the housing (2) and the circumferences of the shafts (5, 6, 10). A duct (9) that receives and conveys coarse components of the filling material is disposed on the top surface of the housing (2).

By providing said knife house (13) with second outlet means for receiving at least a portion of said substances and/or materials provided to the knife house (13) from said pumping chamber (5) overfilling of the knife house (13) is prevented. As an alternative means for varying the internal volume of the knife house (13) may be used.
